Kate & Justin Rose Charity Event Raises $160K for Orlando Schools!  

This amazing event held June 8, 2010, at the beautiful Lake Nona Golf and Country Club, Orlando, FL. Stan Curtis, Doug Meijer and other Blessings in a Backpack representatives were on hand to participate in this great day of golfing fun, while raising enough money to feed 1000 kids in local schools for many years. A BIG THANK YOU goes out to all who made this event such a huge success! (Pictured below: Stan Curtis, Andy Odenbach, Justin Rose, Mark Hayes).

                              Miley Cyrus announces her involvement in Blessings in a Backpack!
 

Miley Cyrus has been supporting 600 kids in the Blessings in a Backpack program in Hazard, KY, since January, 2010. On Thursday, May 20, she met up with Stan Curtis and other Blessings in a Backpack representatives, as well as officials from the Hazard Independent School. Cyrus learned firsthand the work her support is doing, and heard plans for growing the program over the next few years. Miley made sure to personally thank the many volunteers involved in running the local program, on a weekly basis.

"Hazard, in fact all of Appalachia, has always been special to me and to my whole family," she said in a statement. "It's where we're from. So the health and education of these Hazard County kids was important to me, and something I felt I really could help do something about...through the Blessings in a Backpack organization. I'm really, really happy with what I've seen and heard here today. These kids, and this organization, are really amazing."
