Kira Andreucci of Karing4Kidz continues work to feed children during summer

When you think of how most 15-year-olds spend their summer you think of lots of swimming, trips to the beach, bike riding, going to the movies with friends, eating ice cream, and so much more.

But Kira Andreucci of Fitchburg had more important things to do this summer.

For her 11th birthday, asked for money to start Karing4Kidz, a project to help less fortunate children with kidpacks containing nonperishable, nutritious food items for the weekend. This is now her fifth year with four Fitchburg elementary schools helping hundreds of children.

Kira, along with her parents, and 10 other volunteers, have been working hard for the past five years as under the 501-c3 nonprofit organization under the name “Blessings in a Backpack.”

Each school year, Kira and her team feed hundreds of children, last year proudly serving 217 children in the Fitchburg public school system.
